Hecate Energy has obtained the Special Use Permit (SUP) for the full project, but other permits are required pending studies that are underway. Those permits include:

  • Lee Township building, electrical and/or mechanical permits
  • Calhoun County Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Permit
  • Michigan Department of Agricultural and Rural Development
  • Michigan state-level Construction Stormwater Permit
  • Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) Stormwater Program, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit for Construction
  • EGLE State and Federal Wetland for Part 303 and Section 404 of Clean Water Act
  • Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) for Farmland Development Rights Program
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for informal consultation on threatened or endangered species
  • Michigan State Historic Preservation Office (MI SHPO) consultation for cultural resources
